Back for more, huh? Thanks so much for joining me in the next of our ‘Best LEGO Sets at X Price Bracket’ series of blog posts. I hope that the blog posts we’ve shared so far have been useful for you, and have helped to make you feel as though you are able to make more informed purchasing choices when it comes to your LEGO collecting!
This time we’re going to be looking at sets which fall within the £50 – £100 category. These are traditionally sets which might have more complex builds, might use larger pieces which drive up the price of the set, or might even feature more minifigures and side builds! I can remember being enthralled with a lot of sets in this price range as a kid – from the 2012 Avengers Quinjet to some of the higher-end Police sets which were released as I was growing up.
Let’s jump in and take a closer look at some of these sets together. Remember, as always, that these are just my opinions – so if something else appeals to you and you want to purchase it, that is your prerogative!
The Insect Collection
We’re starting this one off with a LEGO IDEAS set – meaning it is time-limited, and absolutely something that you should purchase whilst you have the chance! The Insect Collection is a wonderfully realised collection of creepy crawlies, complete with vivid bases and sharp and attractive colour palettes. Across this series we’ve talked a lot about display value and this is a set which has oodles of it!
You can buy The Insect Collection here.
Flower Bouquet
The Botanical Collection has been a feature across plenty of these blog posts so far, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that it makes another appearance here. The Flower Bouquet is a wonderful set – and I particularly love the use of Pteranodon wing pieces for leaves here! This would be a fun set to gift and build with a significant other, allowing you to make memories whilst doing so.
LEGO is all about making memories and for that reason alone, this set deserves its spot on my list.
The Avengers Quinjet
I referenced the Avengers 2012 set at the top of this post so this one shouldn’t be a surprise for anyone. I have always had an affinity for S.H.I.E.L.D within the MCU. I grew up watching the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D television show, and my very first purchase from Firestar Toys was a loose model of the S.H.I.EL.D 4×4. Seeing LEGO revisit the iconic Quinjet and capture the aesthetic so flawlessly brings a smile to my eye. Everything is here – from the uniquely shaped canopy, to the chin minigun, and even the S.H.I.E.L.D logo stickers. If you’re a fan of either the 2012 film or the television show then this is a set which you HAVE to add to your collection. I might need another one!
This set does, of course, also include some cool minifigures – revisiting some fan favourite characters from the 2012 film. If you haven’t picked up the Avengers Tower set and want some of the characters from it, then this is the set for you. Purchase yours here!
Crafting Table
Minecraft is synonymous with the childhood of so many of us – and it’s a game which still finds popularity with creative audiences today. The Crafting Table is a staple of the game and is one of the first blocks that any would-be builder creates in-game, so LEGO’s choice to create a crafting table with an entire micro world fully-realised inside is wonderful. I love how LEGO have effortlessly captured the aesthetic of everything from the village to the trees, the waterfalls and the small characters on display here.
If you’ve had your eyes on the Minecraft line for some time but can only afford one set from it, then this is the set for you. It captures the iconography of this video game incredibly well and looks like a ton of fun.
Stitch
Full disclosure, this choice is again informed by a childhood memory. I’m a sentimental sort of guy, what can I say! I LOVE LEGO’s new build of Stitch – arguably one of Disney’s most iconic characters. Whilst I can’t say I am particularly excited for the new film; I love how this rendition of Stitch gets the appearance of this loveable alien spot-on. The designers who work on this set have done such a fantastic job of capturing this character’s charisma in brick format. It’s impressive – and his accessories just add to the fun!
Stitch isn’t going to be popular with everyone, but if you’re like me and you grew up with this icon, I think you’ll want to add this one to your collection.
Walt Disney Tribute Camera
Those of you who have been reading these blog posts will know that I am a sucker for cameras and photography, so alongside the retro camera, the Walt Disney Tribute Camera had to make a list somewhere. This is such a wonderful and creative build of a classic film camera – complete with lego-fied film reels, and space inside for the Walt Disney minifigure to be seated within the camera. I love the design of this set, and the included minifigures just add to an already great build.
Check out this set here – it’s one you don’t want to miss.
Shadow The Hedgehog
Am I the only one who grew up with Shadow being the cool, rebellious character amidst all of the other characters from the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise? I can remember playing the first Shadow game on the original Xbox and being taken back by just how gritty and action-packed the world of Shadow was. It’s such a cool and unique character which I think scratches a unique niche for so many of us adult videogame fans, so I was incredibly excited to see this guy realised in LEGO form.

Tantive IV
An iconic ship from the opening of the original Star Wars film, the Tantive IV is a ship which should be seared into the mind of every Science Fiction fan. I love LEGO’s latest midi-scale rendition of the vessel, giving us a unique build which captures the aesthetic of this spaceship in a fun and appealing way. There are some really smart part choices here and, in general, I am a huge fan of releasing spaceships at this scale. Please make more LEGO!
If you want to add the Tantive IV to your collection, you can find out more here.
Statue of Liberty
One of the most iconic tourist attractions in the world, the Statue of Liberty is an icon which has appeared in so many films and in plenty of pieces of television. I really love LEGO’s latest rendition of this statue, capturing the aesthetic and shape of the iron lady without sacrificing any of the key details. This is a really fun set and is one which I think collectors who enjoy unique shelf pieces will enjoy.

Planet Earth & Moon In Orbit
Last on my list for today is a unique one – the Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit. I think this is probably the ugliest LEGO set I have featured on one of these lists to date, but this build isn’t about aesthetic. This is from the Technic line here and the really cool think is how a series of mechanisms are used to create a crank handle which lets you spin the Earth, the Moon and the Sun around each other. This is such a cool scientific build and I highly recommend you look at the video on their project page.

That’s it for today’s list folks – I’m curious, as always, to know what you think! Leave a comment below letting us know what currently-available set you would buy at this price point, and as always, thank you very much to everyone who has been supporting this series. I’ll see you again very soon!
